About Me

Hey! I’m Derante Wilkins, and I write stories that make hearts race — whether from love, adrenaline, or both.

As an author of romance, YA contemporary, and thriller/suspense, I live for those edge-of-your-seat moments and soul-deep connections. My characters love hard, fight harder, and wrestle with the messy truths of growing up, falling in love, and surviving what life throws their way.

I believe stories should do more than entertain — they should move you. Whether it’s a slow-burning romance, a twist you never saw coming, or a character that feels like a reflection of your own life, I write to make readers feel something real.

When I’m not writing, I’m plotting the next jaw-dropping twist, binge-reading something gripping, or daydreaming about dialogue at 2 a.m.

Why I Write

I write because stories have the power to make us feel alive.

In romance, I explore the messy, beautiful chaos of love — the moments that break us and the ones that heal us. In YA and contemporary, I tell the stories of growth, struggle, and finding your place in a world that’s often confusing and overwhelming. And in thriller and suspense, I dive into the tension and twists that keep your heart pounding and your mind racing.

Writing lets me create worlds where emotions run deep and nothing is black and white. It’s how I make sense of life’s complexities — the joy, the pain, the fear, and the hope.

But more than anything, I write to connect. To share experiences that remind us we’re not alone — no matter what we’re facing.

Because at the end of the day, stories aren’t just entertainment. They’re lifelines.
